Lava International has officially launched the Lava Bold 2 5G in India, marking a significant push into the competitive budget 5G segment. The smartphone succeeds the original Bold 5G and brings premium features like a 120Hz AMOLED display and the latest MediaTek processor to a highly aggressive price point of ₹12,999. The device aims to challenge established competitors by offering high-end specifications typically seen in higher price brackets.

The launch highlights Lava's strategy to recapture market share by focusing on "Clean Android" and robust hardware. The Bold 2 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chipset, which is a notable upgrade over the Dimensity 7050 found in many competitors. Lava claims this processor achieves an impressive AnTuTu score exceeding 500,000, positioning the device as a performance leader in the under-₹15,000 category.

One of the standout features of the Lava Bold 2 5G is its 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. While most smartphones in the ₹13,000 range opt for LCD panels to cut costs, Lava has prioritized visual quality. The AMOLED screen offers deeper blacks and vibrant colors, enhancing the experience for media consumption and gaming. The inclusion of a 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and fluid animations, a feature often missing in budget devices.

In terms of optics, the device sports a 50MP AI rear camera paired with a Sony sensor, capable of capturing detailed images in various lighting conditions. The front houses an 8MP shooter for selfies. Storage-wise, it comes with 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, which is faster than the eMMC storage often found in this segment. The phone also supports virtual RAM expansion up to 6GB.

Performance Analysis: Dimensity 7060 vs Competitors

The MediaTek Dimensity 7060 is essentially an optimized version of the popular Dimensity 7050, tuned for better efficiency and performance. Lava's claim of an AnTuTu score crossing 500,000 puts it significantly ahead of its direct rivals. To visualize this performance gap, here is a comparison with other popular phones in the same price bracket:

AnTuTu Benchmark
Lava Bold 2 5G (Dimensity 7060) 505,000
Realme Narzo N65 (Dimensity 6300) ~445,000
Samsung Galaxy M14 5G (Exynos 1330) ~485,000
Moto G34 5G (Snapdragon 695) ~410,000
Clean Android 15 & Battery

Lava continues its commitment to a bloatware-free experience. The Bold 2 5G runs on Android 15 out of the box with a clean, near-stock user interface. This means no pre-installed spam apps or intrusive ads, which is a significant advantage for users frustrated with heavy custom skins. The company promises future OS updates, adding longevity to the device.

The phone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. Despite the large battery and premium AMOLED screen, Lava has managed to keep the body slim at just 7.55mm. It also features an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance and an in-display fingerprint sensor for security.
